We saw a gap. Too many passionate nurses—nurse coaches and nurse entrepreneurs alike—were completing their certifications only to return to the very bedside they hoped to leave. Not because they lacked purpose, but because they lacked a clear, supportive pathway to build thriving practices and create meaningful change outside traditional roles. They didn’t know how to acquire clients, build a sustainable practice, or confidently own their role as business owners. CoachRN was created to bridge that gap—with a school rooted in excellence, service, and real-world business mentorship designed specifically for nurse coaches ready to lead, serve, and grow.
Why CoachRN Chose the Modeling and Role-Modeling Framework
At CoachRN, we are grounded in evidence-based, holistic approaches that honor the uniqueness of every individual. We chose the Modeling and Role-Modeling (MRM) framework by Dr. Helen Erickson because it aligns with our core belief that healing and transformation occur when we truly see the person—mind, body, and spirit.
MRM emphasizes understanding the client’s worldview (modeling) and using that understanding to support growth and healing in ways that are meaningful to them (role-modeling). This strengths-based, person-centered framework reflects the heart of nurse coaching: building trusting relationships, facilitating self-care, and empowering clients from within.
CoachRN proudly integrates MRM into our curriculum because it equips nurse coaches to meet people where they are—and walk beside them as they move toward who they are becoming.
How We Blend Service and Strategy at CoachRN
At CoachRN, we believe that building a thriving nurse coaching practice isn’t about pushing sales—it’s about serving first. That’s why we teach a service-based approach to client creation: one rooted in authentic connection, deep listening, and transformational conversations. Instead of chasing clients, our coaches learn to show up with value, curiosity, and presence—creating powerful experiences that naturally lead to paid work.
But service alone isn’t enough.
To build something sustainable, we also lean into the EMyth perspective, which teaches that successful businesses are built by design—not by default. We help nurse coaches move from “technician” (doing everything themselves) to entrepreneur and leader, developing systems, structure, and a business that works for them—not the other way around.

CoachRN was born from a simple but powerful realization: too many certified nurse coaches were returning to the very bedside they hoped to leave.
They had the heart. They had some training. But they didn’t have a clear path forward.
After investing time, energy, and passion
into becoming nurse coaches, many found themselves lost when it came to building a sustainable business. They didn’t know how to attract clients, create income, or confidently step into the role of entrepreneur. We saw the pain, the frustration, and the missed potential—and we knew something had to change.
That’s why we created CoachRN:
A coaching school designed not only to support the craft of transformational, holistic, service-based coaching—but also the business of it.

Our Founder: Mary Turner, RN, NC-BC
Mary Turner is a creator.
A visionary leader, board-certified nurse coach, and seasoned executive, she has spent her career at the intersection of healthcare, leadership, and transformation. As the founder of CoachRN, Mary brings decades of experience in nursing, business strategy, and holistic leadership to help nurse coaches not only serve—but thrive.
CoachRN was born in 2012 after Mary, having successfully launched four businesses of her own, was consistently approached by small business owners asking how she did it—and if she could help them do the same. Wanting to provide more than just anecdotal advice, she enrolled in the EMyth Business Coaching School in 2011 to gain tools and frameworks grounded in best practices. CoachRN began as a business coaching platform for entrepreneurs—rooted in systems.
In 2018
Mary deepened her work by completing a 3 Principles Nurse Coach Program and becoming a board-certified nurse coach. Her heart had always been in healing, and this certification helped her integrate the art of coaching with her clinical and entrepreneurial wisdom.
Then in 2022
she noticed a troubling trend: nurses were completing their coaching certifications full of purpose and possibility—but returning to bedside roles they no longer felt called to, simply because they didn’t know how to build a business. They had the heart to heal, but not the tools to grow. Mary recognized the gap between coaching education and sustainable practice. And once again, she responded.
Her vision?
She expanded CoachRN to include nurse coach preparation course, offering a school grounded in coaching mastery, rooted in business acumen, and powered by a service-based approach that equips nurses to grow real businesses—not just collect certifications. Her programs are infused with the timeless EMyth principles and tailored to meet the unique needs of nurse coaches ready to lead. She is passionate about helping nurses become confident entrepreneurs, transformational leaders, and powerful change agents.

Mary is also a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a respected speaker, and a racial healing facilitator who brings courage, compassion, and clarity to every space she enters. Her approach is deeply human, values-driven, and committed to empowering others to lead from within.
